Well I said yesterday that I would begin my research online for free diet recipes and exercise programs. I spent 6 hours just doing research and reading articles. When I said that, how was i supposed to know that there was so much "**it" out there. Like my mom used to say,"If you’re one in a million, there are six thousand people exactly like you". How does one chose what program to start with? What information is even correct? I am really going to do damage to myself this way?
After all that work, I have decided that one thing is true. Losing weight really is a life style change. You have to get off the couch and get active and you need to start eating real foods again. You know the kind your mom made for you when you were a little kid. Not the junk you starting asking for after the first time you were taken to a McDonald's restaurant. That's where it all started to go wrong.
To that end I have found a FREE site to tryout. There is absolutely no charge to join or use all of the tools available. Don't get me wrong there are lots of product placement ads on the site but not a single charge. They have lots of great tools you can use starting with:
1. A Nutrition Tracker set to you goals. It includes daily/weekly meal plans, easy recipes and even a printed grocery list. This cam even be adjusted to include the other members in you house hold.
2. A Fitness Tracker: This includes daily strength exercises, short video examples and a Mon/Wed/Fri cardio program.
3. A Weight Tracker and Measurements Tracker: This is just like it sounds, once a month you take your measurements, once a week your weight and it displays a progress chart towards your personal goal.
4. Other Goals: Like writing in a journal every day or no having a soda everyday, etc. These are set by you and again tracked.
5. Support Groups: Tons and tons or support groups all categorized, including others blogs.
So I think i'll start with them for 2 months and see if the program works. If Not, time to move on. No point in beating a dead horse if it doesn't work.
The site is http://www.sparkpeople.com .
My plan now is to continue getting used to the site and it's program for the rest of this week and start the full diet plan with a solid week ahead of me; this Sunday. By the way, starting with the full week ahead of me was one of the suggestions I found abundantly online yesterday. it's all about setting S.M.A.R.T. goals.
S- specific
M- measurable
A- attainable
R- realistic
T- timely
See you tomorrow;
Looper
